All adult club meeting reports appear on Living pages. Due to the increased volume, they will be limited to pertinent business items and a short (two- to three-paragraph) summary of the program. Reports should be in writing and reach The Daily Record within three days of the meeting.
Wayne County Early American Glass Club
Wayne County Early American Glass Club met Nov. 13 at the home of Marilyn Ferguson. Dottie Carter served as co-hostess.
Ferguson presented a program on Hummel figurines. They were created through the artistry of Berta Hummel, a Franciscan nun.
The first figures were made about 1935 by Fran Goebel of Goebel Art, Rodental, West Germany. Older, discontinued editions are highly sought collectibles and can be dated by the trademark.
Members viewed many examples of the simple charming figurines of boys and girls handmade and painted of Bavarian black clay in many complex steps.
Nita LeVere paid tribute to Naomi Donley, former Charter member of the club, who died recently.
Members will place a seasonal glass exhibit in the showcases of the Wayne County Public Library on Dec. 4.
There will be a luncheon at the home of Marian Howman on Dec. 11.
American Legion Auxiliary 407

Poppies were ordered for 2008. It was reported there was a good turnout for Veterans Day dinner.
